About Remembrance as Resistance: Preserving Black Narratives
This new work by Atlanta artist Charmaine Minniefield honors the over 800 unmarked graves found in the African-American Grounds of Oakland Cemetery through the multi-media installation of a Ring Shout, a traditional African-American worship and gathering practice whose origins in West African ritual and ceremony predate slavery.
